A year of travel which expanded our mishpacha. When does simple friendship get elevated to family was once again an eye opener. New bondings forged. Relationships just got stronger. Mom & I , visited Eight families , while at US (Niru Aunty, Bharat & Lucy, Vanita , Chanti & Litti, Bubu & Sarah, Sanjay & Veena, Milli & Gopal, Sonu & Chhaya ) six cities (Reading, Philadelphia , Portland, Seattle , LA, Chicago) , variety is definitely the spice of life. A trip that can never be recreated ! Experience's & Learnings from hosts of individuals ! Memories to be treasured. From Unexpected Friendship to Lasting Relationships !
The year has been a potpourri of situations, events, visits within India. Each carried its own weightage. The two surprises were meeting Nancy & Richard , joie de vivre is a word that is them , at Gurgaon. And the lovely time spent with Rita Aunty & Ajja Uncle at Gorakhpur , celebrating his 75th bday with the family. Iqu Uncle 's goodbye to this world, the Sardar who was always immaculately dressed & the only one with the most colourful Patka's. If there was sadness there , there was much happiness at the entry of a much awaited Baby Riaan into the lives of Sanjay & Veena.Life & Death maintain their Balance.
Deia's move to UBC, Vancouver. Her first leg as an undergrad & an adult. Inder still as oblivious to the world & on his own journey. Smriti changing her line completely and moving from Engg to Fashion , ESSEC , Paris !
A link with Kidney Warrior , Vasundhara & the path that shall move to a direction - Unknown !
Ruchi's weekend down memory lane as a child to Indore & Ujjain went with a blink of an eye. While Dads sudden visit to the hospital for 5 days , did shake us all up.
With the year that was, two phrases have stood out. The Latin phrase , Sin Cera & the Japanese , Kintsugi!
Sin Cera : In the Olden days , wax was used to hide cracks/flaws on pottery . The priceless artefacts though, were , Without Wax- Sin Cera , which means Sincere.
Kintsugi : to bring dignity to a broken object , by filling cracks in Gold ( silver , platinum ).
A year , that had its share of flaws & cracks. Each flaw telling a story , each crack , Without Wax , being Sincere to the beauty within , inspite of the Imperfection. Learning from experience & then , filling them with Gold , giving each Blemish , the wisdom of worthiness.
