New Year Cheers 2009

Another year whizzes past ... where did it go ??? pata hi nahin chala ...

 

A year which came in with its trials n tribulations & zipped along with a whole load of sense , sensibility & patience , with a wisdom of one who has seen umpteen years go by , just like the old man with white flowing white hair, long beard n robes , who symbolizes Time!

 

Retirement has taken a complete new meaning for me .... retirement means Time flies & Thats that!!! And I love this pace which is so Brisk at its slowest best !!!

 

A year which left a few loved ones behind & gained new ones. A year of Facebook which connects me in one way or another & linked me to friends who had become more than a distant memory. A year where a school reunion reminded me of what euphoria really means when u reconnect with your long lost friends.A year, which again reinforced, the strength & love ,yr family & friends bestow upon you.

 

Wish you all Unconditional Love, Fortitude to Forgive , Strength to bear the loss of a loved one , Health & Happiness.

 

2009 will turn another page in our lives .... The Best is still to Happen!!!

People Change, Friendship Remains

Read this lovely piece and here are the lines that i felt were so true to what we all go through ..... trying times with friends ... however, one has to just Move On.

 

It's about Memories , about what Friendship once meant to Us,It's about ... Friendship Remains .... a few friends shall stay with us forever, a few shall fade away, a few shall never acknowledge the friendship, but,  at the end of it all......People change , Friendship remains, just keep the doors open, one just never knows who walks through that door, into our Life , once again!!!! I went through a confusing time with my friends when we got to junior high. I had known these friends since kindergarten, and when we began junior high it seemed like some of them began to change. We slowly drifted apart and started hanging out with different groups. When we were going through this "transition," I felt confused and hurt. It was as if we had never been friends in the first place, we had grown so far apart.

People change, but that doesn't mean we have to lose the friendships we once shared. My friends and I still spend time together when we can and care about each other a lot. Just because things are different doesn't mean that I have to forget about all the good times we had. I will always keep the memories in a safe place in my heart. This story taught me that we will go through many different changes throughout our lives. The best thing to do is to move on and let go of the past—and leave the rest in God's hands.

General Musings

Folders:
 
PC/ notebook main Folders banate banate , decided to make folders in my head too!!!
Different situation , different moods, different friends/family ..... a different folder for just about everything happening in my Life!
Only one folder is opened at a given time , work done on that , and as need be , work continues or folder is closed. No folder is allowed to overlap another, warna confusion ke chances jyada ho jate hain!!! 
As things get taken care of , they are sent to the Recycle bin depending on their utility factor. It is the deleting the folders from the Recycle bin of the mind , which is not the easiest..... takes its time & effort!! Working on that , these days!!!:-)
 
 
Music is Food for the Soul:
 
Music , Music & more music. Music for every occasion. It is a therapy for the soul. Brings a smile , no matter what!

Whoever coined this term, knew exactly what he/she was talking about. Just the love for good music & dancing, puts such amazing stillness , to be able to let your energy be released in the mist of music, which clearly begins my moving your being , to foot tapping , let your hair loose & just enjoy that moment of total freedom & bliss. Let yourself flow with the music , coz , u gotta shake shake shake .... & let the blues away!!! Body & Mind , totally spent !
 
 
Walk, the best Stress Buster: This is how I feel , maybe coz I love to walk!!
 
Some believe in retail therapy , or shopping , or vigorous excersice , yoga , meditation , chanting , and am sure a whole lot more ...
 
However, when i walk, its an amalgamation of sorts. Listening to my own heartbeat or the beats of my shoes on a rough surface , singing or chanting in my mind ... all of this. And, in more than one ways , always helps me think straight , to remove the clutter which is there , slowly & steadily, with every brisk step I take, the Mind gets a clarity. And after a while, it is just listening to the stillness around!!!
 
 
Sleep Easy:
 
Growing up , we always listened to music while studying. We would hum the song and read. However, in some time , the music would engulf us, trap us in its cocoon, filtering any other noise that might distract us. Music would become a hummm in the background with our total Focus on what we were studying. Thats how we cleared all our exams ... & very well too , if i might add!! ;-)
 
Even today , my Focus on the task at hand is so much better if music is playing in the background.
 
When I am tired & need that Power Nap , which could be from 5 minutes to about half hour, I switch on the TV, or play music...... the sound is like a lullaby which puts me in the slumber in seconds, Up in a short while , totally relaxed and ready to take on the world!!! ( maybe that why my dear sister said she would pull this chapter from my book on relaxed sleeping while totally stressed!! ... She tried it , kept the TV on & tells me slept like a baby through the night!!! :-))

Reunion

Watched Rock On & thought Reunion.

Daly College, batch of 83 is going to have their reunion since they want to recreate the magic of school after 25 years. The enthusiasm with which a select group has been going about organizing this event has swept me too .... its as if i am truly a part of this batch of 83. Its taken 25 years, but now i feel a part of this batch, where the boys ( except for the een meen sade teen) never spoke with me!!! A city girl, who lived by her rules, was like a sore thumb in an establishment which was so tuned to their age old traditions, a complete flip to what i was all about!! Girls will be girls, we all got to be friends, with approx 30 girls to a strength of approx 300 boys in senior school, what do you expect !!! Girls Ruled!!! :-)

Just 2 years, however, the memories are like the strobe lights at the dance floor, flashes jo thamne ka naam nahin lete, and when recollections fails, I do have friends with memories of an elephant, who remind me of the nonsensical mayhem one was capable off ?????!!!! Ailaa !!! Was so sure about the Halo on my Head !!!!

Officially I am not their batch , but since i did study with this batch for 2 years, they were sweet enough to include me ( or is it some hidden agenda of Badla taking!!!??? ) & a few other batch mates like me for the reunion.

Agar hum, the chosen few, jo 2 years main itni behtareen memories ke shikar the, then needless to say, that the rest of the gang who were class mates for 4,5,10,12 years , their memorabilia would be astounding.

Rock On, got 4 boys together, here it is more than 60 classmates , a humungous task, to say the least!!!

Rock On, got me thinking on the sensitivity of a Reunion. A fantastic intention, seems like a piece of cake to organize, but when you get to the actual nitty gritty , one realizes what an arduous & complex task it really is!!

Reminiscing about school days has loads of retrospection. Kuch acchi ,kuch bhulne layak, Friendships that have survived every situation, to Friendships which died a natural death the day one left school, to Friendships which went sour because of an unwarranted situation!!!

A Reunion is just the requisite needed to get back to the same Bond. A Time to rekindle lost friendships, to reintroduce , to revive , to ReEstablish the Fevicol ka jod once again!!! To let bygones be bygones.........

There are no Winners or Losers, just Friends.
There is no Ego, only Friendship.
There are no Regrets only Gratitude, thats Friendship.
There is Trust, there is Faith, thats Friendship.
There is Love, there is Care, thats Friendship.

Life too in a lot of ways is a Reunion, which brings me to my simple, seedha saadha Insight ......

Time Flies

Dad’s friend came visiting for a cup of morning chai. Conversation followed, and came to the most important question of all …. “Rita, what are you doing these days??? Kya kar rahi ho ?? Abhi bhi travel line main hi ho? “

My usual answer followed … “I am on a sabbatical & am actually not doing any work per se! “

Which, totally surprised him. “Impossible, how can you not work, tumara samay kaise guzarta hai?? How does your time pass??”

The most impromptu off replies came …..  “I do not pass time, Time passes me !! Samay kiske liye thama hai jo woh humare liye rukega ???”.

Time is one element that is on a constant move, no stagnation ever. No situation, no emotion, Nothing can make it stop and look back, always looks ahead!!! No remorse, No compromise, Just Move On. You either like the movement of Time or Lump it, your choice, Time shall do its own bidding!!! We truly have no control over time do we???

Pass Time, read the word Pass. Who really passes whom? Am sure you got that!!!Time passes us  & we live under the illusion that we pass time!!! Kya situation hai ye !!

To be doing what you are doing and being happy, content & satisfied is really the call! There isn’t any Moment in our lives that goes unutilized!! After all, Life is as Simple & as Complicated as you make it out to be!!! Sahi ke nahin???? A never ending quest!!! Time gives us the freedom to utilize this passage, where Mind plays a prominent role. After all, everything is in the Mind!!!

Time is always taken for Granted, is for free and also the most perishable, once gone, it shall never come back. The moment is now, Time to give Time its due respect. Not only to give quality time to yourself and others, but also to utilize time to its Optimum.

They say, time heals, time shall conquer all, samay balwan hai, samay se accha marham koi nahin ……. Samay, Time … the ultimate Jetsetter!!!;-)

Holds no Moments in its Palms, Knows how to Let Go, leaving the past behind, learning from memories, moving always to a new moment, a new dimension!!!

And, truly, these days, I really have no clue , how Time is flying past me !!!

A passing Thought ...

Would one have ever figured out the negative without first knowing the positive?

1.      Men are attracted by Women, they fall in love with her, she becomes an addiction. That’s trouble!
2.      Man is afraid of women coz they are beautiful, not only to him but to whoever looks at her. Great Jealousy!
3.      In making love, Man is inferior becoz he can have only one orgasm, while women can have multiple!!!!!!!!!!
4.      Women live 5 years more on an average then Men, which means she has more resistance, more stamina!
5.      Man is only stronger in Body, a good manual worker else he is inferior to Women!!
6.      Women are more loving. Love has its own strength. To carry a child in her womb needs strength, stamina, Love. No Man can manage that!!!

7.      Love , Trust, Beauty, Sincerity, truthfulness, authenticity are feminine qualities that also reside in a man , whenever Man Awakens, he attains these very qualities that he condemns!!!

jackasses….. n just do not deserve my concern ….eeshhh!!

they are more screwed up than you think…. Be yrself , u cant be wrong abt that ever…. 

 I've learned that depression is merely anger without enthusiasm…. Throw that too in the air!!

I've learned that it is not what you wear; it is how you take it off…. With patience n simply.. 

I've learned that you can keep vomiting long after you think you're finished… this is a think tank… 

I've learned that I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it…. I truly do, sanity resides in Insanity!! 

I've learned that artificial intelligence is no match for natural
stupidity…. There is such intelligence in that too… 

I've learned that 99% of the time when something isn't working
in your house, one of your kids did it… Blame it on the kids .. uffff

I've learned that the people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon and
all the less important ones just never go away.
And the real pains in the ass are permanent… Life is such .. kya karein!!!     

Anger

Morning time, a cup of chai & checking out all the newsical masala circulating around us, I read a few lines of Osho.

Can’t remember the exact words, but it did hit bull’s eye on Anger!!!

Osho says, that you should throw Anger into the Cosmos instead of throwing it at one another. When you are angry with someone and you throw your anger at him, it creates a chain reaction. Now he too will be angry. This may continue for the longest time. How does one end it? There is only one possibility. You can end it only in meditation (calming your mind, basically), nowhere else, because in meditation you are not angry with someone: you are simply angry & you need to release this anger. Throw this adverse energy into the cosmos. Emotions move into the cosmos, and the cosmos purifies everything. Like a dirty river falling into the ocean, the ocean will purify it, similarly, the cosmos is so vast and so great an ocean, it purifies all negative energy, you cannot make it dirty.

In my books, this is so relevant. While we were growing up & got Angry, we were asked to count 1-10 backyards, or to go and spend ½ hour alone in our room, to take boxing gloves & hit a punching bag with all our might …… I remember a cousin, who very nearly cracked a wall in the house coz he would throw the football with all his strength on the wall to curb his anger!!!! We were made to do this, to calm us down …. To make sure we didn’t say something wrong, which would be hurtful to the other person or out of line, which would be nothing short of back answering. This, in its own, was a way of releasing the anger onto the cosmos, instead of on someone!!! (Remember the scene in Life in a Metro, where Irfan Khan asks Konkona Sen to dispel all her anger & she screams till she is completely sapped out of all the negativity!!! )

But then again, productive Anger, which does not hurt someone, but gets your point across is important too!!! (after all ,one doesn’t want anyone to take advantage of us!!!), aab , Geeta main bhi likha hai, to hurt someone is bad, to endure injustice is worse!!! Say your piece and move on!!!

Just seething with Anger, without knowing the correct picture, or even releasing the same into the cosmos, is not warranted, coz when the correct scenario comes your way, one would end up feeling truly anguished!!! So, basically, the cosmos can’t help purify what you create in your mind, that, one has to do themselves!!!!

Sometimes you see things happen right in front of your eyes and still jump to the wrong conclusion. Or, you can believe in something real hard and still be wrong. …. Because u don’t know any better.

Anger is truly an inherent quality of every human being, like every other emotion’s that we are blessed with. Repression( with focus on revenge or because of lack of one’s own confidence) of Anger is no solution, it cannot be. Anger creates a circle which continues to thrive with the animosity that we hurl at each other!!!  A never ending story of Hate feeding on rage of all sorts!!! Where one loses complete control & becomes blinded, to emotions & any form of reasoning!!!

Let it go ….. throw it into the Cosmos!!! Let Cosmos Purify the Anger into Love, Peace & Happiness!!! Laughter is the true essence of positive energy!!!

Keep Smiling !!! (it will make the other person wonder what you are upto!!! J)

Human relationships

A boy was born to a couple after eleven years of marriage. They were a loving couple and the boy was the gem of their eyes. When the boy was around two years old, one morning the husband saw a medicine bottle open. He was late for office so he asked his wife to cap the bottle and keep it in the cupboard. His wife, preoccupied in the kitchen totally forgot the matter.

 

The boy saw the bottle and playfully went to the bottle fascinated by its color and drank it all. It happened to be a poisonous medicine meant for adults in small dosages. When the child collapsed the mother hurried him to the hospital, where he died. The mother was stunned. She was terrified how to face her husband.

 

When the distraught father came to the hospital and saw the dead child, he looked at his wife and uttered just five words.

 

       The husband just said 'I am with you Darling'

The husband's totally unexpected reaction is a proactive behavior. The child is dead. He can never be brought back to life. There is no point in finding fault with the mother. Besides, if only he had taken time to keep the bottle away, this would not have happened.

No one is to be blamed. She had also lost her only child. What she needed at that moment was consolation and sympathy from the husband. That is what he gave her.

 

            I have no clue if this story is true or not, but methinks the human relationship has been brought out beautifully!!!

 

If everyone can look at life with this kind of perspective, there would be fewer problems in the world. A journey of a thousand miles begins, with a single step. Erase envy, jealousy, selfishness, fears…. Forgive easily, and one will find things are actually not as difficult as they think.

     

Isn’t it a fact that most time we spend, is in asking who is responsible or whom to blame, whether in a relationship, in a job or with the people we know & miss out the warmth in human relationship. If only we started taking responsibility for our own faux pas…. Life would be as simple as we want it to be!!!! Learn to Laugh at yourself …. Learn to Love yourself… Learn to Forgive yourself!!!!!

And that is human nature to blame it on a person , a situation ……. Sigh!!!!

Does anything change?

I have been asking myself, if things around you really change?

While walking with Ruchi, she very aptly put it, “ Didi, things never change”!!! And we both understood the space she was coming from.

When one does give this a thought, we do realize, whatever might be the situation we are faced with, the surrounding around us remains the same. We expect things to change, we think they have changed, our perception of our surrounding is what really changes, however, things actually remain same. That is why one says, Life moves On!!

Look around you, everyone is going about their activity without a pause. Do we really know what makes them tick? Do we know if they are happy, sad, stressed ? What emotional turmoil they are going through?

For the third eye, everything is normal, a regular everyday life. But ask an individual about his feeling at that moment & one just might hear a completely different story to the one we might have envisioned about them.

According to the frame of mind that they are in, Individuals create their surrounding. One’s own mood is the one that changes things. When you have time in your hand, the red signal will not upset you, but change that & you are is a rush, the red signal will have you seething!!! Things are the same, your situation is what made it look different!!!

If one is sad , the entire world looks bleak to me, if one is happy, one hears the birds chirping, the rustle of the leaves …..

Did the world really change?? Day & Night happens, Seasons change, People continue with their routine, the Day begins just the way it did yesterday ….. Every thing remains the way it is!!!!!

Which brings me back to my favourite line ……….. it is all in the  Mind …….. it Creates ….. it Destroys ……… its all in the Mind ….
